The Prehistoric Forest Theme Park in Michigan’s Irish Hills closed in 1999, its exhibits having become dated-looking by modern standards. The dinosaurs are still there, though, falling prey to decay and vandalism and bearing witness to a simpler era when places like this could thrill generations of children. I remember visiting it once when I was little, and it was cool as heck, sparking my childhood fascination with dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The impact of the exhibits were heightened by  their placement in a natural environment, where one could round a corner and be confronted with a huge dinosaur looming over you from amongst the trees.
