Broken window theory

These industrial windows were almost entirely intact the first time I visited this abandonment, but it’s fascinating to witness the ongoing vandalism and decay. I’m drawn not only to the blues of the windows and the empty frames but mostly to the inside details, seen when enlarged.

ORIENT EXPRESS

A first class compartment of a train, a dining car and a goods carriage have been rusting away for years. Particularly the first class compartment, with its velvet upholstery and wooden veneer, is reminiscent of a time when travel by rail was considered a luxury. Unfortunately I could not retrieve any information as to why the carriages were abandoned.

Engagement V.

After many setbacks I began to
wonder, if I would ever be able to imitate old soviet photographs. What
was the secret? Can dSLR deliver a picture with crispness, contrast,
grain of soviet analog? They feel so weathered, just like you are
looking through dirty window pane.
Recently, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant revealed the secret and gave
me access to the wisdom of ancient Masters. Only for a second, barely
enough for couple of raw shots.

Turns out you literally have to take the picture through dirty window pane.
